E3: Trailer Fest

June 4, 2009

I decided to go through ALL of the E3 news again and post anything I failed to mention in my Day 1 and Day 2 entries. There was plenty to read, and lots to write about, but I decided I would just hit you with plenty of visuals instead.

I have crammed this post with SWEET, NEW TRAILERS from E3 2009. There’s seriously something for everyone in this post. You get some new God of War III footage – Cinematic and in-game. There’s some Mario featured, a little Castlevania and even some Final Fantasy. All of these trailers are awesome and deserve a viewing or two. Check them out after the break!

It-sa Me! Conan!

June 4, 2009

Conan O’Brien took over for Jay Leno on the fabled “Tonight Show” this week. The best part of his premiere? Peep the stylish new background for his monologue.

Finally! Super Mario talk show decor, where have you been all my life?

Finally! Super Mario inspired talk show decor, where have you been all my life?

While I am (and always will be) a diehard Letterman fan, I have grown to love Conan’s younger, off-beat sense of humour. If the Tonight Show keeps dropping Easter-egg gems like this, I just might become a convert.

E3: Day 2 Coverage

June 3, 2009

The second day of E3 was packed with even more game news and trailers than the first. I’ve attempted to cram everything into this post. Not sure if I succeeded, but there’s definitely lots of tasty tidbits and game footage for you to check out. You can find it all after the briz-eak.

E3: Day 1 Coverage

June 2, 2009

I just finished sifting through the massive amount of information that came out of day 1 @ E3 and I’m actually quite exhausted from it. To save you similar strain and time-wastage, I’ve gone through and selected all of the tidbits and trailers I liked.  Aren’t I considerate? You can find everything in this (hefty) post after the break. Enjoy!

Do you Settle? Catan, of course.

June 1, 2009

The Settlers of Catan

Although Settlers of Catan (the award-winning game of exploration and trade) was released in 1995, Duder has just recently begun playing it. If you haven’t played it yet, you are probably under the same rock we were under, so crawl out and get settling!

The beauty of the game is that its mechanics are quite simple, while its dynamics are quite complex. This allows a variety of things to happen very quickly and allows all players to remain in the hunt. Perhaps one of the best features of the game however is that noone is ever eliminated. So you don’t get those eliminated leaning on everyone else to throw the game so they can play again.

Best of all, there are many expansions to the game, such as Seafarers of Catan, which look amazing. There is even a Catan video game for Xbox Live! Check out the link here. I do enjoy the jolly settler dancing after his victory.

Duder is calling all Catanians to recount old settling stories, why you think the game is great, critique expansion packs etc. As a side project, we are looking to set a Guinness World Record for the largest game of Settlers of Catan ever played, by joining hundreds of individual boards together. It is also our intention to have Klaus Teuber, the creator of the game, to participate. If you would like to be a part of it, let us know!
