For all that he was, the world was a better place with him in it.

Michael Jackson wasn’t the typical Dude’s Dude, but he certainly earned his stripes making millions of people around the world boogie. There is little doubt that he was a strange, tragically flawed human being, but this Duder is left to wonder: didn’t he deserve better?

Even the most staunch Duders can admit that when such classics as Thriller, Billie Jean and Smooth Criminal start spinning, you can’t help but hit the D-floor. A strange man in strange times, MJ will be remembered by Duders everywhere as one of the truly gifted musicians of our time.

Here’s to you M.J.- this week’s honorary Duder- for rocking the socks off of Dudes everywhere.

What a Champ

 Fact: Bill Walton runs show. On and Off the court, Walton has established himself as (in his own words) a truly “classical human being”. As one of the most dominant big men of the 1970’s and 80’s, Walton has since been inducted into the NBA hall of fame. What really sets Bill apart however, is his work as a sportscaster in the years since he retired his legendary sky hook.

Simply put, Bill brings it every night. His unnecessarily elaborate, verbose and obscure commentary is what makes Bill such an amazing Dude, worthy of being named the first Honorary Duder.

 Whether he is declaring his son Luke Walton “The best passing big man in the game” after only his rookie season with the Lakers, or dropping eargasmic and hyperbolic commentary such as the famous gem: “LeBron James…. With No Regard! For Human Life!” Bill Walton is a beauty. Check out these amazing verbal masterpieces:

Comparing Boris Diaw to “Beethoven and the Age of the Romantics”

What makes this clip so much better is that Boris Diaw is among the most mediocre centers in the league, and he is now toiling away in obscurity with the Charlotte Bobcats.

 Can that be topped? Oh yes. I dare to dream. Check out Bill’s amazingly elaborate response to the question of how Amare Stoudamire’s return from injury will affect the Suns’ performance:

 The only possible explanation for that intro is that it was revealed to him during a a fever dream by some benevolent higher power. Congrats Bill, you are the first Honorary Duder.

Symptoms: Characterized by an inability to effectively communicate verbally, people who are under the influence of pork often stutter or resort to primitive grunting. Half-chewed rib bits and sauce can often be seen clinging to/ falling out of the infected.

Billy: Those ribs were delish, what should we do tonight dudes?
Ian: I think we sh….sh…sh….sh….should………………hhhuggghhhhh
Michael: Dude, did a piece of rib just fall out of your mouth?
Max: Ian has gone pork drunk.
Ian: uggghhhhhh (attempting to nod in approval)

Bearing this definition in mind, Duder offers this week’s recipe:

Pork Drunk Ribs

What you need: (odds are you have most of this stuff in your cupboard)
2 slabs of pork ribs
Dry Rub: Chilli Powder, Brown sugar, Garlic, Salt, Pepper
Braising Liquid: Can of beer, Orange Juice, Soy Sauce

Feeds 2 Hungry Dudes

What I like about this recipe, it only requires (combined) about 10 minutes of actual work. Here’s what to do:

Assemble dry rub in a bowl- about a half a cup of brown sugar, quarter cup of chilli powder, 2 finely chopped cloves of garlic, and lots of salt and pepper.

Rub spice mixture all over both sides of ribs, cover and set those bad boys in the fridge overnight.

Pre-heat oven to 250 degrees. Place ribs in a baking pan with at least a 1-inch lip.

Combine a cup of Orange Juice, a can of beer (coke also works great) and a half cup of soy sauce. If you are using a bigger tray, use more liquid.

Pour liquid into pan with ribs and cover with aluminum foil. Toss in the oven at 250 degrees for 2 hours.

2 hours later grab those slabs of porkflesh and finish them on the barbecue over high heat, for about 4 minutes a side. The goal here is to get some good colour on the flesh side.

Serve with some smoky barbeque sauce and enjoy that shit. Guaranteed dynamite. Seriously, the best ribs you can have with virtually no effort.

Step One: Get into the classic wheelbarrow position, if your partner lacks the upper body strength to achieve this, put her down and walk away because not only will you not succeed The Boner Roll, your girlfriend is disappointingly feeble.

Step Two: Start running/boning. The rhythm of the action will take a while to get into, but don’t worry. You have plenty of time to practice as you get up to speed. Speed is key.

Step Three: Once you’ve hit your full stride, and you are running as fast as you can, (see why she needs those strong arms?) Get her to plant her hands palm down as you leap. If she keeps her arms straight, you’ll swing upwards and over her. Feel free to stretch out your arms as you feel the wind blowing through your hair, and revel in the freedom this position provides. But keep it short; the next part may shatter your fucking sternum.

Step Four: After passing the point of no return, you’ll begin an alarmingly quick decent. It is mandatory that she keep her arms straight, even after they leave the ground. As you near the floor, tuck in your head, and hit the ground with your shoulder in a classic shoulder roll motion. Gravity and the momentum will do the rest!

Step Five: If the roll is done properly, you will probably end up on your knees, with your lady in front of you. If you’re a master of the move, you should have returned to your feet (the move can be repeated indefinitely) If you have failed, you probably should phone an ambulance.

 The Boner Roll does not reward failure.

Some new photos of Sam Worthington in the Clash of the Titans remake have shown up on the net. Now, I havent seen the original or anything, but I’m is definitely a fan of greek mythology so I’m pretty excited about this film. You should be too. Check out the new set photos and a brief plot overview after the break!

Clash of the Titans, or CotT as it will be referred to from time to time, will follow the Greek hero, Perseus, who will be played by Sam Worthington. When Hades, the God of the Underworld, threatens Perseus’ family, the hero decides to embark on an epic quest to stop Hades from seizing power from the king of all gods, Zeus.

Here are the two set photos of Sam Worthington as Perseus in CotT.

I am liking what I’m seeing so far. Worthington was definitely one of the best parts in Terminator Salvation, and I think he’ll make a great Perseus. He looks the part for sure and he’s definitely a competent enough actor for an action-adventure flick.

Worthington will be starring alongside Liam Neeson, who will be playing Zeus, and Ralph Fiennes, who will be playing Hades. Both of these duders are phenomenal actors and fit their roles perfectly.  Kudos to casting.  I can’t wait to see them duke it out!

The movie is set for release on March 26, 2010. I’m sure we’ll see and hear plenty more from this movie before then though. Stay tuned for updates!

I decided to go through ALL of the E3 news again and post anything I failed to mention in my Day 1 and Day 2 entries. There was plenty to read, and lots to write about, but I decided I would just hit you with plenty of visuals instead.

I have crammed this post with SWEET, NEW TRAILERS from E3 2009. There’s seriously something for everyone in this post. You get some new God of War III footage – Cinematic and in-game. There’s some Mario featured, a little Castlevania and even some Final Fantasy. All of these trailers are awesome and deserve a viewing or two. Check them out after the break!

God of War III
This game remains at the top of my “most anticipated” list. I love everything about the GoW franchise and I simply cannot wait for this game to come out. Peep the the new cinematic trailer and a little gameplay footage below. It won’t disappoint.

Castlevania: Lords of Shadow
Now I’ve placed this trailer after the God of War III trailer for a reason. Anyone else notice the similarities between the two? The side-scrolling Castlevania games I remember are no more. Instead we get a Gothic version of GoW with blades of chaos like weapons and everything. As a fan of both God of War and Castlevania, I am definitely liking what I’m seeing in this trailer. I have a feeling die-hard fans of the Castlevania series may not agree with me though.

Final Fantasy XIII
A new Final Fantasy cinematic trailer. What more needs to be said?

Super Mario Galaxy 2
More Mario. It never really changes, but it never becomes any less enjoyable either. You gotta love the M-dawg.

Metal Gear Solid: Rising
Not much to this teaser trailer @ all. I just like the “Lightning Bolt Action” tag line.

Uncharted 2: Among Thieves
This sequel looks like its going to be better than its predecessor. I’m definitely excited.

Assassin’s Creed 2
The cinematic trailer for AC2 was my favorite of Day 1 @ E3. This demo clip from AC2 doesnt fall far behind though. The game looks absolutely amazing.

Well that rounds up the E3 2009 coverage. We got lots of great news and have LOTS of amazing new games to look forward to as we move ahead into 2010.

Finally! Super Mario inspired talk show decor, where have you been all my life?

While I am (and always will be) a diehard Letterman fan, I have grown to love Conan’s younger, off-beat sense of humour. If the Tonight Show keeps dropping Easter-egg gems like this, I just might become a convert.

So for those of you who haven’t heard, Robert Rodriguez and 20th Century Fox are planning to “reboot” Predator. You know, I get the whole reboot craze. Some movie ideas have great potential and miss the mark the first time around, thus warranting a rebirth of sorts. But to reboot Predator, which is an absolute classic, is just absurd to me.

What’s is even more absurd though, is that Rodriguez has apparently offered Arny an opportunity to reprise his role as Major Alan “Dutch” Schaefer in this supposed reboot. This news is coming from /Film and MovieHole, and I’ll be honest with you, I don’t like it very much.

One of the reasons I’m so upset about this whole Predator reboot situation is because I dont think Predator is a movie that needs rebooting. The Batman series (pre-Nolan), now that was a franchise that needed a second chance. But Predator is an incredible film that still stands up today (even though it was released over 22 years ago). The story was beautiful, the casting and acting were perfectly fitting, and the effects were actually pretty damn good. So why start over? If its good the first time around, let it be.

To make matters worse though, it’s starting to look like this reboot is actually going to end up being a sequel of sorts. How could Arnold reprise his role as Dutch if it were anything but?

At least with a reboot, we get to approach the Predator universe from an entirely different angle. We can try to ignore the blasphemy that is occurring on the screen before us. But with a sequel, we are forced to revisit a universe that will never be as good as it originally was (in the first Predator film) and accept it for what it is now. It’s a place I don’t want to go.

I mean, COME ON, the role written for Dutch in this “sequel” is NOT even the lead. It will probably end up being more like a cameo. This is just plain rude. If you’re going to continue retelling the story from the original Predator, you cant omit the actor/character that made the movie what it is. No Arnold. No predator. No sequel.

I guess I now find myself rooting for a reboot, since it is definitely the lesser of two evils when the choice is between seeing a sequel or a fresh take on the franchise.

As it stands now, Rodriquez’s people have contacted Arnold about the opportunity, but Arnold has yet to respond. Arnold is a smart man and already turned down a role/cameo in Predator 2. I have faith he will make the right decision and pass on this as well. Its not that I wouldn’t love to see him on screen again, because I WOULD. I just don’t think this is the way for him to go about doing it. Hopefully a pass from Arnold kills the sequel idea and forces them to take the reboot route.

If we have to return to the Predator universe at all, we might as well go there with a clean slate. Leave the GOLD that is the original Predator film untarnished and Reboot-away (if you have to). Just no sequels please.

That’s all I have to say about the topic. Ill post again if there are any updates though.
